TAVISTOCK Cricket Club staged an inter-club game between the first and second XIs on Saturday involving as many club players as possible, to provide a final practice before the League season starts.
Tavistock first XI batted first, and the steady contributions from Nick Goodchild, Sean Daymond and Andy Gauler, and a superb 99 from Sean Cleave, meant that they compiled a formidable 275. James McGahey was the best of the second XI bowlers with 3-38.
In reply the the second XI started steadily with Bobby Dhanjal making a good 40, and Abhay Bygott retiring when he made 50.
With John McGahey also retiring at 50, and good contributions from Dave Jeffery and Sam Willets, they reached a respectable 227 for 5.
The new league season starts on Saturday for all three teams.
