THERE was a large and enthusiastic turnout for the Chilla Against Turbines garden party on August 10.
The event was held in the grounds of Mary and Gordon Knight's home at Kingswood House, West Chilla, and walks around the grounds and lake were made enjoyable by the good weather.
There were plant sales, garden ornaments, books and various other stalls, and for the children there was face painting, a lucky dip, guess the weight of the cake and number of sweets in a jar.
Cream teas were available and the raffle and tombola included such prizes as a day's fishing and locally-produced meat boxes.
A film show provided information on the construction and operations of industrial wind farm developments and there was a presentation of rare flora and fauna to be found in the area of the proposed wind farm and a guide on how people could volunteer to help gather information on local wildlife.
Together with donations, the day raised £1,342.65 for CAT's fund to fight the proposed wind farm in the Chilla Valley.
Mary and Gordon King thanked everyone who had helped organise the day.
