Bodmin Trophies Duchy League Division Two Delabole 1 Lamerton 4 LAMERTON began their 2005 league campaign with a hardfought win over Delabole. They played the first half kicking uphill against a strong wind and as a result found it difficult to put any sustained pressure on the home defence. Paul Breyley came closest early on when the home keeper did well to save a shot dipping under the crossbar and when Paul Cowling was fouled in the box the resultant penalty came to nothing after the ref changed his mind on the decision. With ten minutes of the first half remaining a cross from Steve Gibbings was hit into the roof of the net by Zac Beesley to open the scoring. Lamerton extended their lead in the second half when Dan Healy put Kev Swift through to score from close range. The home side then pulled a goal back due to slack defending but a good run down he left by Panda Williams saw him square the ball for Beesley to rocket in his second. The final goal came when man of the match Beesley laid off the ball for Cowling to slide it past the keeper to wrap up the game. Lamerton welcomed back Simon Breyley after a seven week layoff with a badly gashed knee. This Saturday home to Boscastle in the knock out cup third round. Kick off 2pm.
