IN the words of Delia Smith, director of Norwich City, when she went on to the pitch at Carrow Road to say, ?Where are you? Let?s be having you!?, I would like to say the same to the good people who support Tavistock Football Club. We had a race night on Saturday November 12th when sadly just 40-odd persons turned up. It was still a good night with all races sponsored and all horses sold. Posters were up in the club, an advert in the Times, word of mouth, we felt had done the trick. I ask the question, what is wrong? Every function that we do seems to lack support from its members and the potential ones. We are called a FA Charter Standard Club, also a Community Charter Standard Club, but at the moment all it is is a plaque on our wall stating the fact. The Red & Black is for all the various teams that play at Langsford Park and apart from a good representation of the Carlsberg squad there was a distinct lack of numbers of members from the committee, second team, vets, ladies, youth, skittles, men?s, ladies? darts and all users of the Crowndale pitches. There are obvious reasons that so many stay away. I would just like to know the reasons why and if we can correct them and bring us more together. Our next event is an Irish evening with the Belfast Busker on Saturday December 3. Let us hope for a better turnout. I can be contacted on email [email protected]">[email protected] or 616695 for your observations re the above. Eric Pinch Hon secretary Red & Black Club & Tavistock AFC
