AT their annual meeting the members of Tavistock Golf Club voted to register the club as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC).
Following a Government review into participation in sport, its relationship to health and lobbying by leading sports bodies, sports clubs since April 2002 have been able to register as a CASC.
John Harding, chairman of the management committee, reassured members that, though club rules need to be amended to register as a CASC, it does not mean that the ownership of the club's buildings or assets pass to a third party or that members and committee relinquish control of the club. In the unlikely event of the club being dissolved the remaining assets of the club will be used for a sporting or charitable purpose.
