A RECYCLING company in North Tawton has been awarded the status of being Gold Recycling Stars by E2B.
This is the second consecutive award made to Peninsula Waste Savers, for the excellence shown in both the service given to clients and for its continued commitment to expanding the recycling facilities they offer.
In their assessment, E2B, an organisation dedicated to the promotion of recycling and environmental issues, take into account the company's staff training and involvement, as well as its interest in developments in recycling processes which enable it to accept an increasing variety of packaging materials and products for recycling.
A spokesperson for Peninsula Waste Savers said: 'We were thrilled when we received the gold award last year, and never dreamt that we could receive such an honour twice. It is a tribute to our excellent staff, and to the support of our loyal customers and the communities with whom we work.
'This has been an exceptionally difficult year for most businesses, and the waste and recycling sector has been particularly hard hit, with a number of companies closing or restructuring, as a result of the collapse in revenues.
'The downturn has fed the recent trend of using incineration as a form of recycling, but we do not do this.
'We are committed to real recycling and work strictly within the current legislation of the 'Waste Hierarchy'.
'Landfill or incineration are a last resort. We do manage a small amount of re-use, but 99.9% of the materials we receive are actually reprocessed into new products.'
