I WAS very perturbed to read in the Okehampton Times (November 6) that Merton?s annual village pantomime ?Snow White and the Seven Asylum Seekers? has been scrapped on the instructions of the Commission for Racial Equality. This is political correctness gone crazy. The CRE seems to lack all sense of humour.

May I ask the Merton Players to go ahead with the pantomime and I ask the CRE to rehash their guidelines and make them more sensible.

A few weeks ago Jonathan Ross started his Saturday morning BBC Radio 2 show with the words ?This show is heard by nine out of ten asylum seekers?. No one objected to that.

We could do with a laugh in the kind of world we live in.

Go ahead, Merton Players.
