A WELCOMING atmosphere, comfy chairs and lots of books — does this sound like the place your children would enjoy? If so, an Iddesleigh woman would like to hear from you.
Angela Garnham is considering opening a children's Christian bookshop in Okehampton — but before she takes the plunge she wants to hear from people in the area.
Angela said: 'My initial idea was to set up a children's bookshop in Okehampton, a place where our children could lounge about, read a book or two in comfortable surroundings and maybe even buy one!
'Perhaps the children could get involved, by reviewing various books.'
Angela said she had the idea after walking round the town and noticing there was no bookshop specifically for children.
'I also noticed that with the number of churches in the surrounding parishes, there wasn't a Christian-based bookshop either.
'I considered both these ideas and thought, why not combine the two? What better way of introducing children to the Lord than by having a friendly place where they can come and enjoy a variety of books?' said Angela.
She is putting a business plan for the shop together but would like to hear from potential customers to see if there is demand for such a venture, which might include mail order goods and other stock such as stationery or cards.
'Is this a good idea,' asked Angela. 'What would you want from a Christian or children's bookshop? Would you encourage your children to visit the bookshop?
'I would very much appreciate thoughts and comments.'
