THE Tamar and Tavy Gig Club held a 'Night at the Races' fundraising evening at Bere Ferrers Social Club.
Members enjoyed watching the eight horse races all sponsored by local business.
Betting was keen and the cheering more so for the eight horses in each race with the winning 'owner' being presented with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates.
The club would like to thank the race sponsors namely Evanji Ltd, MVB Boiler Services, Eastwood Garage, Bob's East End Café, Bere Ferrers Social Club, Grub-Up, P Gorringe Plant Hire and The Fireplace and Stoves Centre — as well as John Taynton as race promoter and to Andy and his team for taking the bets.
A total in excess of £500 was raised towards the purchase of a GRP gig.
