Carlsberg South Western League Plymouth Parkway 2 Tavistock 1 THE Lambs were looking to avenge a League Cup defeat by their hosts just over a month ago but in similar fashion had to concede defeat with the same result. A couple of early Christmas gift wrapped presents were to be their downfall. But the Lambs should have sown this game up in the first half with the better of the chances. Chris Menhinick went close before Andy Meeds had to get down low to palm an Andy Sargeant effort around the post after just ten minutes. John Morris was sent clear for the Lambs after 18 minutes to progress to the edge of the area and chose to shoot than attempt a pass to the unmarked Mark Conday and the chance to open the scoring disappeared. Central defender and Captain Nigel Pugh came to the Lamb? rescue minutes later when he thwarted both Sargeant and Martyn Sullivan. Will Stringer spurned a chance after getting into a good position on the half hour with Glynn Hobbs also going close before the Lambs finally and deservedly went ahead on 40 minutes. Pugh?s cushion pass out of defence to Dave Hallett saw the midfield man move forward to give himself space to shoot low pass keeper Joey Sundercombe. The Lambs immediately lost the services of Captain Pugh to be replaced by Craig Hodge and a minute before half time it was him under pressure from Sergeant to head over Meeds for the home side?s fortunate equaliser. Former Lambs front man Kevin Parker then shot weakly at Meeds with James Steer seeing his shot flash pass just the wrong side of a post before the interval. Father Christmas came calling again in the shape of John Morris on 55 minutes when under no pressure he turned inside on the edge of his own area to ham it up and be robbed by Mark Gammon to coolly curl his shot into the top corner. The Lambs then had the better of the final quarter but could not find a way past a resolute defence to suffer their second defeat of the season. Forthcoming fixtures: It is back to Cup action this Saturday as the Lambs look to progress further in the F A Vase when they take on Toolstation Western Premier league side Backwell United at Langsford Park with a 3pm kick off. Also Saturday Plymouth & West Devon Tavistock away to Tamarside at Rok Parkway with a 2-15pm kick off.
