Daphne McDonald, the outgoing chair of Bere Ferrers Villagers’ Group, was presented with a locally crafted wooden bowl as a token of appreciation for the many years of work she has contributed to the village.

The bowl was presented by the new chair, Diana Mitchell.

Daphne has been part of the Villagers’ Group for more than two decades and was the driving force behind the fundraising and establishment of the children’s play equipment, the tennis court and the popular zip wire in Bere Ferrers Recreation Field.

The group has now invited Daphne to become its president so it can benefit from her experience and knowledge of the group’s background.

Bere Ferrers Villagers’ Group is currently fundraising for a replacement zip wire as the previous one, at 20 years old, had reached the end of its life.
