OKEHAMPTON Lions Club are bringing the gift of music to the town again next year with a special evening of music devised and performed by young people from the area.
Back in March, the Lions Club held its first Gift of Music Awards Day which proved such a success planning is already beginning for next year?s event.
Lions spokesmen Ray Dean said the aim of the event was to boost confidence and potential, and give young people the chance to perform for an audience with professional support.
?The aim is to give everyone the chance to get up on stage in front of an audience. Hopefully, it will just spark something,? he said.
Money raised on the evening will be ploughed into funds for the Gift of Music Awards which will help purchase a musical instrument or pay for a period of tuition for youngsters in Okehampton with musical potential.
Mr Dean said the show was very much about the young people involved taking the initiative and the role of Okehampton and District Lions was merely helping to organise the event.
The show will take place at the Fairplace Church, Okehampton on March 27.
Mr Dean said preparations for the show had to begin several months before as performers had to rehearse and lots of hard work was involved in the build-up to the event.
He said all styles of music and performance will be welcomed.
