IT WOULD appear that the county council might have made a New Year resolution to finally get to grips with the selfish ?parking? (or abandoning) of cars in Canal Road.
According to notices being put up on Friday morning, parking will be banned from just behind the library to the entrance/exit of Bedford Car park, thus allowing, hopefully,free flow of traffic into and out of the car park.
Certainly good news for the coach drivers who have had to try and manoeuvre between parked cars and the high kerb and inconveniently located lamp-post on the other side.
One cheer for the council then, because I?m not sure that all of the other proposals listed on the notices will be judged as sensible and welcome. We shall see.
