Duchy division 1 Mary Tavy 0 Lamerton 4 LAMERTON edged ever closer to the title with this hard earned win against luckless rivals Mary Tavy. Much the same as the previous fixture between the two, it was Tavy, in their last match of the season who started brightest, as they dominated a scrappy first half. Lamerton, totally at sea from corner kicks nearly went behind on several occasions, but the crossbar; a goal line clearance and some last ditch defending kept the match goalless. Pete Broomfield raced away for Lamerton and his low, firm shot was superbly saved down to his right by Tony Rawlins. That was Lamerton?s best chance with little football being played. The half?s talking point involved a wildly heavy and late challenge by Lamerton captain Simon Breyley on his opposite number Nick Johns, who came up well from the back. A scuffle occurred and Breyley was a lucky man only to see the yellow card. The second half was evenly contested until midway through when Lamerton got the all important goal. A corner whipped in by Dan Healy, deceived keeper Rawlins and Kev Swift?s outstretched leg made it 1-0. Tavy?s efforts were depressed and Lamerton capitalised soon after. Swift this time turned provider as he put Broomfield through to score. Zac Beesley then showed his quality with a sublime curling shot from 20 yards into the top corner and the game was over. The fourth was a disappointing own goal, somehow embarrassingly bouncing over Rawlins? head. A very flattering score line for the away side, but one that leaves them five points clear with two games remaining. This week: home to Altarnun, 2.30pm kick off.
