A GROUP of cyclists are on a mission to raise money for charity when they undertake a ride from Tavistock to Land's End on June 8.

There are currently 12 people signed up to cycle the 92-mile route, which will hopefully raise a good amount of money for both the Devon Air Ambulance and Macmillan Nurses. However they are looking for people to join in the ride to boost the donations and local businesses to give them support.

The trek will start at Tavistock and progress through Cornwall, via Liskeard, St Austell, Truro, and Camborne to Land's End.

The 12 cyclists, of all ages, include from Tavistock Paul Martin, Ben Martin, John Harrison French, James Medland and Peter James Hoyles. They will be in training from February 18 using the Drake's Trail and Dartmoor to build up to the big ride.

Ben Martin, one of the riders, said: 'Cycle with a Mission' is a charity bicycle event not just for super fit cyclists but mainly for ordinary people to do something extraordinary, something out of their comfort zone.

'All are obviously welcome to take part, we are after all trying to raise as much money for good causes as we can, but there is an emphasis not only on the ride itself but also the journey it takes to get to the start line.

'You do not have to be super-fit as long as you are willing to put in the training. Obviously the more people that take part on the ride the more money we can raise for Devon Air Ambulances and MacMillan.'
