DARTMOOR is celebrating the forthcoming Olympics, and toasting all things sporting with its own Active Dartmoor Week at the beginning of April.

For seven days Dartmoor will be host to challenge events, showcasing the wide variety of things to do and see in the most spectacular landscape.

From the launch day at the National Trust's Castle Drogo on March 31, and for seven consecutive days, there will be all manner of activities from zip wires, mountain biking, raft races, pony treks, dancing, endurance events, to a bake-off, and it all takes place on Dartmoor.

It is a chance for everyone to get involved, sign up to take part and achieve something to be proud of. Not everyone will be able to compete at the Olympics; but there is a challenge for everyone, a test of real mettle, on Dartmoor.

The event is being organised by the official tourism organisation for Dartmoor, Dartmoor Partnership, as part of its funded Active Dartmoor project. It is working alongside Dartmoor National Park Authority, the Duchy of Cornwall and local businesses to organise an event for which local people will be proud and that continues to run annually long into the future.
