DUCHY College football coach and sports hall manager, Gary Jeffrey, has accepted an offer to become national team officer for the Women's England Colleges team.

The offer is in recognition of Gary's work with the regional ladies' trials team over the last two years and a desire to become further involved on a national level.

Gary, 26, will be the key contact for team communications (including contact with players, colleges, parents and clubs). He will be responsible for the welfare and well being of all players who are part of the squad and team. The role also supports the delivery of team staff including sports science and performance support, ensuring the needs of players and coaches are met.

The role reports to the British Colleges Sport (BCS) national football development manager and working under the guidance of the national team head coach.  The team officer coordinates and oversees all logistical arrangements for the assigned squad and participation in the respective fixtures, tournaments and training weekends.

Russell Lawrance, director of Sport at Cornwall College, said: 'I feel this coming Gary's way is a reflection of his proven ability and the significant experience he has gained through his involvement with Cornwall College's Elite Sports Academy. He displays a desire and passion to help our sport performers which he will be able to transfer to the national side.'

As a former student at Duchy College, Gary is proud to be working at a national level: 'I am happy and excited to have been offered a national level position. I would like to extend my thanks to Duchy College and Russell Lawrance for the support they have offered me throughout my career.'
