ANYONE who enjoys gardens can now get their hands on the latest edition of the Devon Gardens Booklet, giving details of open gardens for this year.
The Devon Garden Booklet lists 156 gardens open to the public throughout this year under the National Garden Scheme (NGS) to raise money for nursing, caring and gardening charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help the Hospices, Crossroads Care and many more.
The NGS is Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care's biggest single donor.
The Devon county organisers said the average income from each garden was up on the previous year and more than £112,000 had been raised in Devon in 2010 through the generosity of garden visitors and the hard work of garden owners and volunteers.
The majority of gardens are privately owned and this year in Devon, 24 new gardens have been added to the list.
There are many types of gardens on offer for viewing, from cottage gardens and formal gardens to wildlife gardens, and some include art exhibitions, music and animals.
Full details in the Devon Gardens booklet cover opening times, admission prices, maps and directions.
Booklets are available at most garden centres, tourist information centres and libraries, or send an A5, stamped addressed envelope to Edward Allhusen, Devon NGS, Sutton Mead, Moretonhampstead, Devon, TQ13 8PW.
