FUNDRAISING for a new community garden in Okehampton begins this week to help push the project forward.
A steering group of six members has been working with Lois Gallimore, the community projects officer from Home Grown Community Owned, and Karen Percival, clerk for Okehampton United Charities, to secure a plot on Fatherford Road for the garden.
Fundraising for the project has now begun in earnest. The steering group will be running a stall in the Okehampton Market shop opposite Waitrose tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday, December 17. Members of the group will be happy to answer questions on the garden, and the stall will offer festive treats and gardening goods.
If you wish to make a donation to the project, make donations payable to Okehampton Community Garden at Upcott House, Upcott Hill, Okehampton, EX20 1SQ.
Alternatively, if you have unwanted plastic plant pots, seeds or gardening equipment, you can donate these to the garden. For more details, call 01837 53743.
Keep an eye out for more information on the community garden in upcoming issues of the Times.
