A CHANCE to explore one of Mary Tavy's private gardens is on offer as St Raphael, home of local artist Dave Woodhouse and his wife, opens its gates to the public this weekend.

The Rev John Higman, parish priest, said: 'We very much hope that as well as enjoying the delights of this wonderful garden, folks will also call into the nearby church where there is an exhibition of art and craft by children from the Mary Tavy and Brentor Community School.'

St Raphael's garden is open on Saturday and Sunday (June 22 and 23), between 2pm and 6pm. Entrance is £2.50 and refreshments, including cream teas, will be available. Proceeds are in aid of St Mary's Church.
