THE sixth round of tennis in the Plymouth and District League has taken place, with some Tavistock Tennis Club teams lucky enough to enjoy beautiful summer
evenings and others having to play between the heavy showers.
RESULTS: Division one - Tavistock Men's A (Lyndon Hardisty and Josh Brown, Simon Prout and Phil Ruse) v St Budeaux A (home), won 8-0, points 47.
Division two: Men's B (Gareth George and Tony Du'Gay, Phil Harbottle and Alex Samborne) v Hill Lane A (home), lost 0-8, pts 21.
Division three: Men's C (Ron Skinner and Matt Smith, Ray Hinton and Bernard Mowle) v Saltash A (away), lost 2-8, pts 22. Men's D (Paul Newton and Jeremy Hyde, Bill Sparks and Charles Snow) v Ivybridge B (away), draw 5-5, pts 24.
Division six: Men's E (Peter Bradley and John Stewart, Rick Read and Steve Fletcher) v Whiteford Road (home), lost 0-8, pts 27.
Division seven: Men's F (Max Goodison and Mike Prout, John Mulley and John Medland) v Looe B (home), won 8-1, pts 39.
Division one: Ladies A (Hilary Picton and Amanda Goodison, Sue Parsons and Alison West) v St Budeaux A (away), draw 4-4, pts 21. This was a battle that neither team was prepared to give away.
Division three: Ladies B (Roma McMahon and Olga Rogers, Jane Colgate and Julia McClenghan) v Whiteford Road A (away), lost 4-6, pts 29.
Division five: Ladies C (Liz Webb and Josie Gerhold, Kathy Bryne and Mel Broadhead) v Ivybridge E (away), won 8-1, pts 27.
Mixed doubles knock out. Tavistock (Linden Hardisty and Alice Anstee, Josh Brown and Hilary Picton, Simon Prout and Amanda Goodison) v Saltash (home) had a convincing win 8-0.
