ON a glorious spring day, Tavistock U10s travelled to Paignton for the annual Trevor Ward Festival comprising of a round robin league with seven teams.

Tavistock started slowly, losing the first two games against a strong Ivybridge squad and a team from Clifton (10-0 and 5-0 respectively). Suddenly Tavistock burst into life destroying Exeter Saracens 30-0 with tries from George Kharas, Lochlan Fulton and Jude White.

They only just lost the next game against Honiton 5-10 but then beat Paignton in a very tight game 5-0, with a try from forward Joe Burbage. A draw against Brixham (10-10) meant that Tavistock were in the third and fourth place off against Brixham.

In this longer game, the scores were very close, with both teams matching each other try for try but it was Tavistock that were victorious taking third place with a 15-10 win (tries from George, Jason Blake and Archie Trevethan).

It was a great end to the day after a poor start. The team celebrated with a swim in the sea on Paignton beach. Tavistock player of the festival was Archie Trewethan.
