FAMILY Learning has been running a successful Early Start Course at Bere Alston Primary School.
Ten parents attended to find out how to support their child in the first year of school. The covered topics included phonics, storytelling, IT, numeracy and ideas on healthy lunch boxes.
Parents learned about what their children would be taught within the class and encouraged to explore ways of complementing this teaching and supporting their own children in a home environment.
Parents worked with their children making games and having fun at school together. The last session was a trip to Pennnywell Farm to enjoy the Nativity.
The course was jointly run by Michelle Bull (Family Learning tutor) and reception teachers Alison Kerswill and Julie Warren.
Congratulations go to the parents who were given an opportunity to take an Oxford, Cambridge and RSA (OCR) accreditation within the course — all passed.
Parents on the course were Yvonne Howard, Deborah Constable, Stephanie Molyneux, Maria Outram, Laura Ralphs, Susan Murrin, Melanie Williams, Jane Page, Lavinia Lake, Sarah Maiden. Reception Teachers Alison Kerswill, Julie Warren and Family Learnning Tutor Michelle Bull.
Family Learning is part of Devon Adult Community and offers free informative courses for your pre-school, nursery or school. For more information call Penny on 07816 973926.
