OBVIOUSLY feeling flushed with success at having driven those 'pesky varmints' Sainsbury's to the hills for having the audacity to want to open a supermarket on the outskirts of Tavistock, the Nimbys have targeted their next 'victim'.
Unfortunately for the Nimbys, this business must have got under their radar, as they are already in place.
However, not to be outdone, said Nimbys are upset about the colour of the building.
Wrong shade of blue, apparently. Vulgar, garish and tacky, they scream.
Bright, modern and tasteful I say.
The owner says he thinks 'there are more important things in the world than the colour of a shop'.
You would think so, but never underestimate the pettiness of some people.
Also, I see there are 39 objections to a pasty shop opening. Some people really do need to get a life.

FOLLOWING your piece in last week's Times I was amazed, as I drove past today, aside from my own sadness, that anybody could possibly imagine that painting the stonework blue could add to their commercial image!
I was quite surprised to learn that there is no control over such a very iconic street to prevent such ad hoc whimsies to occur.

I THINK that the old Woolworths shop looks lovely in the blue colour — it is bright and cheerful to a dull, grey, boring Tavistock.
Are there that many miserable people that find the colour blue depressing? Also, look at Brown's Hotel's colour and the phone shop in the centre of town — fresh and bright to cheer Tavistock up.
And what about the new jobs that this has brought to a sad ending for Woolworths?
All you people with negative feelings need to think positively.
