TAVISTOCK College Surf Academy is already planning its next training camp abroad following the huge success of a trip to France.
Teacher Pete Keegan and learning mentor Dan Kinsman took a group of ten young surfers to La Torche in Brittany for a week's training on quality waves. They spent their days coaching the students while the evenings were devoted to team building.
Mr Keegan said: 'It was the academy's first trip aboard and we enjoyed three days of lovely shoulder-high surf. The beach break had a variety of quality peaks which we explored and we saw marked improvement in several of the surfers.'
The group also managed to fit in basketball, swimming and barbeques.
Mr Keegan said the team members all had a fantastic time and real friendships were forged.
'It was a real adventure and a highly enriching experience,' he said.
'The academy is now looking into a trip to southern Portugal so the students can gain more experience of different breaks and further gel as a team.'
