Palladium Cricket U15s league
Tavistock v Tideford Eagles
TIDEFORD didn't get off to the best of starts losing one of their opening batsmen in the second over, stumped by a sharp bit of wicket-keeping by Rhys Davies from a ball by Louis Ferguson.
Tideford though recovered well and started to use the short boundary to good effect with Osbourne and Snowden reaching their 50s in good time.
Aidan Mason had the dangerous Osbourne well caught on the boundary by Tom Cummings before Luke Cummings produced a devastating spell of bowling taking three wickets in four overs.
Jamie Stephens brilliantly running out one of the Tideford batsmen and the visitors finished on 162 for 6 of 20 overs.
Tavistock opened the batting with brothers Tom and Luke Cummings and both batted well. Tideford made their breakthrough in the sixth over when Luke Cummings was bowled for 16.
Freddie Jayarajah and Cummings started to show their class with bat playing some delightful shots and it wasn't long before both batsmen reached their half centuries in good time.
With four overs of the game remaining Jayarajah hit a massive six over mid-wicket to win the game for Tavistock, Cummings finished on 72 not out with Jayarajah 62 not out.
Tavistock won the game by nine wickets.
Palladium Cricket U15s league cup quarter-final
Tavistock v Plymouth Peverell
IN this top of the table cup clash Tavistock opened the bowling with Freddie Jayarajah and Aidan Mason.
Both bowled tight to off stump, with Jayarajah conceding 14 runs and Mason 26 from their four over spells.
Plymouth continued to bat well and with Barnes and Mathews continuing to add runs to the scoreboard. A run out by Pete Jarman aided by a sharp bit of keeping from Rhys Davies brought the first wicket and Mikey Cousens quickly dismissed another Plymouth batsmen after he ripped his off-stump out of the ground.
This left the two Sri Lankan brothers Passi and Pavvi at the crease for Plymouth and although Jamie Stephens did well to concede minimal runs, the Plymouth batsmen stepped their run-rate up towards the end of the innings and although Alford and Bone took further wickets, Plymouth posted a total of 168 for 4 of 20 overs.
The Tavistock batsmen delivered what was a master-class in batting. Openers Rhys Davies and Freddie Jayarajah worked the ball well all around the ground taking singles, and hitting the odd boundary when ever possible which kept them up with the run-rate at all times.
Jayarajah was the first to go after being well caught off the bowling of Passi Mawalage for 36.
Mikey Cousens wasted no time in attacking the Plymouth bowlers. With Plymouth continuing to bowl very well the Tavistock batsmen were always equal to the task, batting sensibly.
With Tavistock requiring 18 runs off the last two overs to win, Rhys Davies who made his 50 three overs earlier eased Tavistock's cause when he hit two massive back to back sixes over mid-wicket.
Tavistock then required six off the last over and Mikey Cousens hit the winning runs with two balls to spare, Rhys Davies finished on 77 not out with Cousens 51 not out. Tavistock won the game by nine wickets.
