THE COURTENAY Players are currently offering four for a fiver at the Charter Hall. The production ?4 for a Fiver? contains as you might expect, four one act plays at a very reasonable price. The plays are being performed in the Charter Hall from 7.30pm tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow. The first play Tied Up At The Office by Ian Hornby is about Julia who has been working late in the office with her boss Geoff. Trouble is, the place has been robbed and the villains have departed leaving Geoff and Julia tied up. They have no choice other than to wait. Maybe a game of I Spy would pass the time. Or maybe romance is in the air. Amazing Grace by Rena Pope takes place in a convent where Grace, a clumsy cleaner, manages to turn round a religious statue. Or did she? Is it a miracle? Or something else? The audience can judge for themselves. All Is Not Lost by Torquay author Jackie Smith takes place in a lost property office during the 1930s. Mr Eccleton has developed a system for running the office, so when young Billy comes to work there, he has to explain the workings of it. Billy is eager to learn, but asks an awful lot of questions and his first encounter with a member of the public leaves a lot to be desired. Committed by James Cooke is about recently widowed Pam who joins a couple of local groups to meet new people. When she gets her dates mixed up and has both the amateur dramatic group and local ?swinging? group meeting on the same night at her house, hilarity ensues. The funny play follows Pam?s attempts to keep the two apart. Tickets are on sale in the Fairplace Church 50/50 shop in the Arcade.
