VISITORS are the judges at the popular Meavy Garden Society annual flower show which takes place this Saturday, August 12. Visitors receive a voting slip, to select their personal choice of the best entry in each of the 16 classes; providing competitions for cut flowers, shrubs, pot plants, flower arrangements, hanging baskets, and vegetables. Each class has a permanent trophy ? a recent addition, encouraging members to enter more exhibits, is the Gordon Cross Trophy, in memory of a past president of the society, awarded to the person with the most highly placed exhibits in the whole show. Light refreshments will be available, plants from local gardens will be on sale, and a raffle held. The show takes place at Meavy Parish Hall from 1pm. There is free parking ? entry is 50p.
