AN exciting new exhibition exploring the history of Christianity on Dartmoor has just opened at the Dartmoor National Park's High Moorland Visitor Centre at Princetown.
Sheona Gledhill has worked with the St Michael's (Princetown) Trust to produce an exhibition capturing the impact of the Christian faith on the Dartmoor landscape.
The exhibition also looks at how, in turn, the landscape has influenced those who worship in the many churches and chapels on the moor.
The pieces in the exhibition consist primarily of digital prints, capturing colourful impressions of Dartmoor and exploring the historical impact of Christian faith on the landscape.
As well as describing this important aspect of cultural heritage visually, Sheona's work encourages reflection on the way of life offered in the monastic tradition.
The Bristol-based artist, who has exhibited in both Bristol and London, has given one section of the exhibition to a meditative re-creation of a journey across the moor.
The Rev Tim Woods, chairman of St Michael's (Princetown) Trust, said the exhibition provided a unique opportunity to connect with Dartmoor as a place of faith and pilgrimage.
'It is as though the moor provides the canvas on which many people have drawn or added colour to their particular experiences of God,' he said.
'The trust hopes that many people will see and share this exhibition, and find something new to take with them into the future.'
The exhibition runs until May 19. The High Moorland Centre is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free.
