DESCENDANTS of William Finch, who founded Finch Foundry in Sticklepath during 1814, returned to their spiritual West Devon home last weekend.

Finch family members or associates of family members from across the UK, including Glasgow, Halifax, Colchester, Westcliff-on-Sea, Birmingham, Calne and those closer to home, Newton Abbot, North Tawton and Sticklepath, travelled to the foundry to visit their families roots.

Among the visitors were three Penrose girls from Exbourne who are the great-great-great-great-granddaughters of William Finch.

The group enjoyed a light lunch, a talk about the foundry, a walk around the Quaker burial ground where many Finch family members are buried and a guided tour around the village.
