A TAVISTOCK firefighter has transferred to Bideford after three years of dedicated service in the town. Akomot Ali was a waiter at Ganges restaurant in Tavistock where he worked for five years. Ali, as he is better known, recently moved to Bideford where he is in partnership at a restaurant. Station commander Tim Smith said: ?Ali has been a great asset to Tavistock Fire Station and will be missed greatly.? Ali presented Tim with a hand carved sand stone from Bangladesh. Tim received it on behalf of the fire station. Ali was presented with a wall clock to remember all his comrades at Tavistock.
