TWO fire crews from Okehampton were called to Sticklepath on Monday to tackle a blaze in the home of an elderly lady.
Fire chief Ian Donovan said firefighters wearing breathing apparatus managed to contain the fire to the ground floor living room. The occupant of the house escaped before fire crews arrived but was taken to hospital suffering from smoke effects.
