COMMIS Chef at The Horn of Plenty, Sarah Chapman, has beaten students from throughout the country to reach the national finals of the Apprentice of the Year Award.

Sarah, who was crowned Student of the Year at City College Plymouth in January, joins nine other apprentices in the final for the hotly contested title.  The winner will be announced at a glittering national celebration on June 29.

Julie Leivers, owner of The Horn, said:?'Sarah is a very valued member of the team here at The Horn of Plenty and we wish her the very best of luck in the national finals.

'Reaching the finals is a fantastic achievement and over the last two years we have watched Sarah blossom into an excellent chef.'

Winners in the Apprentice of the Year category, sponsored by EDI, are chosen for their demonstration of commitment to their own personal development and progression through learning, excellent contribution to their workplace and outstanding achievements and attainment in learning and at work.

Julie added: "We are certain that Sarah has a very bright future in the industry.  Sarah has a real determination and commitment to succeed, which shines through in everything she does in the kitchen, and we are looking forward to helping her continue to grow.'
