THIS rugby game started evenly but it was not long before North Tawton's forwards began to dominate the pattern of play.

North Tawton were the first with a score with the ever reliable boot of outside half Joe Fewings getting a penalty.

Okehampton immediately replied with a penalty to level the scores.

North Tawton's pack holding the upper hand, it was not long before good forward interpassing saw wing forward Kevin Avery tuck over for an unconverted try

Continued North Tawton pressure saw the home side pressing the Okehampton line. After they dropped the scrum three times North Tawton were awarded a penalty try converted by Joe Fewings.

North Tawton lost prop Richard Jackson to be replaced by Keith Taylor, leaving the score 15-3 to them at half-time.

A five-metre scrum saw North Tawton No 8 Stuart Peters feed his fellow back row Martin Horn for a well worked try, converted by Joe Fewings.

It was left to ever improving Stuart Peters to break off the back of another scrum to score the final try in this fiercely competed Welham Cup match.

l North Tawton's season is now finished. However, this Sunday it is President Gill Hoggins' Day. There will be an U15s game at 1.45pm followed by the President's v North Tawton, kick-off 2.30pm. The club welcomes everybody on their last official game of the season.
