A WARM welcome awaits visitors to the Peter Tavy Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers exhibition to be held on Friday, October 25 to Sunday, 27 at the village hall.
The group was formed as part of the Villages in Action initiative in 1996, motivated by Bobbie Cox, the local internationally known weaver. Affiliated to the Weavers Spinners and Dyers Guild in 1998, it has grown to 33 members who usually meet on the first Saturday of every month.
The guild has a wide range of talents within its members from the professionals to the absolute novice. Everyone is keen to share their skills and workshops are led by members themselves and visiting teachers covering many aspects of textiles, including spinning, knitting, crocheting, felting, ply splitting, loom dressing, locker hooking and tapestry weaving.
The theme of this year's exhibition is 'Fibre Magic'. All members are encouraged to enter at least one item. It is hoped to have a table loom and spinning wheel available for anyone to 'have a go'.
The exhibition runs from 11am to 5pm each day. Entry is free. Further information on 07887 887718.
