TAVISTOCK Food Festival will be holding a competition to find the ?best banger in the West? at the July event. The competition will be split into three categories ? standard, flavoured and speciality ? to cover items such as hog?s pudding and black pudding. It is open to all regional producers in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset, with the judging panel being managed by Peter Gorton as part of his cookery demonstration programme. Festival chairman Jeffery Stackhouse said they had decided to hold the competition in view of the popularity of sausages and the number of craft sausage makers in the region. Each of the three winners will be awarded a cup and certificate.
