WALKHAMPTON publicans Nick and Tracey Packer over the Easter weekend will be helping commemorate the merchant sailors who braved the Atlantic convoys of the second world war.
They are throwing open the doors of the Walkhampton Inn for a beer festival to raise money for the annual Plymouth and District Merchant Navy Association parade and service.
The parade is called Atlantic Days and association patron the Lord Mayor of Plymouth will lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Plymouth at the Merchant Navy memorial on the Barbican on May 28.
During the service the RAF will make a fly-past to salute the Merchant Navy.
The parade starts at 10.30 am at the council house and all are welcome to attend.
Mrs Packer said she was pleased to support a local cause that promoted Plymouth's maritime history.
The beer festival runs from Good Friday to Easter Monday, with live music on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. A raffle will be held to raise money for the parade.
