THE Tamar passenger ferry is again in full operation following the lifting of foot and mouth restrictions.

The ferry is now able to call at Ferry Farm on the Devon bank of the river, near Bere Alston, and passengers wishing to use it are again able to walk down through woodland to Ferry Farm from Bere Alston.

Alison Sherrell, of the Tamar Valley Service, said: 'We're very pleased that the ferry is now able to operate fully and we thank the landowners and the public for their co-operation during the last few months.'

The ferry runs between Calstock Quay and Cotehele Quay, calling at Ferry Farm on demand, and passengers can return via the footpath between Cotehele and Calstock if they wish.

Exact days and times of operation for the ferry vary throughout the season, according to the tide, and full details can be obtained from the ferry operator on 01822 833331.
