A FAMILY learning day to share the message that learning can be fun is being held by Okehampton Primary School next month.
As part of national Family Learning Week, which runs from October 11-17, the primary school is hosting a free family learning event in conjunction with other local bodies.
The day of activities on October 10 has been made possible with the help of grants from Awards for All and the Okehampton Educational Foundation.
Headteacher Brian Cunningham said the school had lined up an ?exciting programme? of activities for primary school age children and their parents, including puppet making, circus skills, story-telling, music-making, face-painting and an inflatable assault course.
Mr Cunningham said this was the first time an event on this scale had been organised.
?The whole idea is to get over the message learning is fun, and you are not just a learner when you are at school but you carry on learning throughout your life,? he said.
The day runs from 10am-4pm at the school. Families can bring their own picnic lunch and refreshments will also be available. Booking in advance is advisable as some activities are expected to be particularly popular? forms are available from the primary school or Okehampton Library.
