Ordulph Taverners v Bude A GOOD toss to win was lost by Ordulph which resulted in them being put in to bat first. Despite the loss of two early wickets Ordulph kept up a good run rate, mainly due to a solid innings from Makhijo (42) supported well by Churchill (21) and Cleave (10). A quickfire cavalier knock of 29no by Crowl supported by Folley (14) enabled Ordulph to set a reasonable score of 142 for Bude to chase. Good bowling performances from A Hingston and Hobbs with three wickets apiece and Hayward with two were the pick of the Bude bowling. With a stronger batting line up than normal Bude set off in pursuit at a cracking pace. The innings was a one man show with Wint punishing anything short of or outside the off stump with ruthless ease. The wickets of Derosa to Makhija and Hingston to J Downham proved only to be false dawns as Wint relentlessly knocked off the runs required with 10 overs to spare, finishing on 112 not out. Inconsistent Ordulph bowling with too many short deliveries did nothing to help their cause. This week Ordulph will be looking for a much improved display when they entertain St Stephens at Kelly College.
