Okehampton Columbines 1 Plym Valley 2 OKEHAMPTON failed to get the point they deserved from this game, but can take heart from what was a good team performance. Columbines were slow to start and fell behind early on to a Plym Valley goal. After that they picked up the pace and with Sue Stanbury and Alex Collins dominating the midfield began to press forwards. Claire Smith was rifling balls into the circle, but the Okehampton attack just could not turn them into goals. Smith?s pass to Jo Stephens allowed her to get the ball beyond the advancing goalkeeper just before half time. At the beginning of the second half an unlucky deflection took the ball over the goalkeeper?s head for Plym Valley?s second. Columbines had greater possession of the ball, but Sharon Stephens in goal had to make a couple of good saves when Valley did attack. Jo Stephens made another fine run only to see her reverse stick shot just saved by the goalkeeper with no other Okehampton player running in for the rebound. Colton was also unlucky when a good move led to her strike which went just wide. Unfortunately it was not to be Okehampton?s day.
