TWO additional evening road shows looking at how to accommodate 3,800 new homes in West Devon over the next 20 years are being held by the borough council in the next week. Hundreds of people have already taken part in the consultation process by attending the road shows which have been held all over the borough in the last few weeks. The latest road show is in Tavistock Pannier Market today (Thursday) from 9am to 3pm. The two additional evening sessions will be held at the Charter Hall in Okehampton on Monday July 3 and at the West Devon Borough Council offices at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock on Thursday July 6, both from 5pm to 8pm. The South West Regional Assembly?s new regional draft plan, unveiled earlier this month, says that sites must be found for the new homes. West Devon Borough Council has to decide where these houses should go as part of its draft core strategy document which aims to guide future development in the area for the next two decades. Balancing the number of new homes with new jobs and limiting the impact of any new development on the environment is key to the strategy and the council wants to know what the public thinks about the issue. The full draft core strategy document is available to view at http://www.westdevon.gov.uk">www.westdevon.gov.uk or at the council offices in Tavistock and Okehampton or at both libraries. The deadline for comments on the plan is July 12.
