Wrigley Devon and Junior Minor League U14s Tavistock Thistles 2 Plymouth Trophyman 1 A DAMP day at Lamerton was made more exciting by a game that had everything, including a change of referee after 20 minutes, three goals and a missed penalty. After three weeks of losing 2-1, Thistles got back to winning ways in a game of numerous scoring chances for both teams which neither side could really convert into goals. The quicker start from the home team saw a number of shots at goal from Lambert, Jones and Snell. After impressive build up play from Argles and Murphy, Thistles took the lead after ten minutes with Wearing slotting home a good through ball. Thistles settled down and created many more chances but failed to convert them until Leeson made it two. Trophyman were not out of it and after strong play they scored as half-time approached, following a period of pressure on Thistles which keeper Haigh and defenders Lowther and Northmore did well to keep down to one. The second half began with chances at either end and with Trophyman using their keeper?s long kick to full advantage it looked as though the home side were in for a tight final 20 minutes. The pressure could have been eased after Newton was fouled in the Trophyman area, but the penalty was shot wide. The final few minutes finished with both sides having further chances but neither could score. Jefferies and Pridham both played well and determined performances like this show Thistles can compete for the whole game. This week away to Phoenix City, 1pm kick-off.
