A DRAB concrete area at the back of Calstock Village Hall has been transformed into a flourishing friendship garden for the Calstock Under 5s Pre-School.

The Friendship Garden is a fully transportable garden, with everything planted in pots, so it can be moved if the concrete area of the village hall is needed.

Emma Hall, of the Calstock Under 5s Committee, said: 'A creative woman in Albaston came up with the idea of turning the bland space at the back of the village hall into a friendship garden for the pre-school. She asked all the children to blow bubbles and wish for a garden and that day we were granted permission by the village hall committee.

'All of the resources were donated by local businesses. It's a two-year project and the children are going to look after it. It's open for the village to use as well. It's flourishing and looking really nice — the children are amazed by it.'

Calstock Pre-School is a committee-led charity organisation offering childcare provision for under 5s in a riverside location. Contact Emma Hall on 01822 832132 to discuss availability and book a free taster session.
