A WEST Devon woman will be riding a former racehorse this weekend as part of a sponsored event to raise money for historic churches throughout the county.
Erica Loram will be taking part in the sponsored ?bike, ride and stride? event on Saturday, visiting a number of historic churches in West Devon to raise cash for repairs to churches.
Erica will be riding Emmaeagle, better known as Dickie, a former racehorse. She will be joined by a band of supporters including a friend riding another ex-racehorse called Solo.
Erica will set out from Gidleigh and will call in at Throwleigh Chapel, South Zeal church, both churches at Sticklepath, North Tawton church, Whiddon Down church before finishing up in Chagford.
Half the money Erica raises will go directly to her nominated church in Chagford, with the rest going to the central funds of the Devon Historic Churches Trust.
The overall total raised last year was more than £40,000, with £2,463.91 raised in the Okehampton area alone.
