GET Changed Theatre Company, an Okehampton-based charity for adults with learning disabilities, entertained audiences with its Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland inspired show at Castle Drogo recently.

Its drama piece The Queen’s Garden Party and the Case of the Missing Tarts was performed in collaboration with Petroc Community Link Drama Group from Tiverton and other newly invited participants with learning disabilities from around the locality.

The National Trust’s Castle Drogo provided the perfect setting as the play was performed on the croquet lawn and featured all the much-loved characters from Lewis Carroll’s book. This opportunity was funded by Arts Council England and gave the Get Changed participants the opportunity to peer-mentor less experienced people with learning disabilities in theatre skills.

Jules Walker, the artistic director at Get Changed, said: ‘In 2015 Get Changed launched an 18-month project to tour the South West telling Alice’s story using a variety of art forms. I’m so proud of the participants; they have created and rehearsed unique performances for several events and festivals and we’ve had a great time performing across Devon and Cornwall.’
