Tavistock ladies 3
Plym Valley ladies 3
THIS was an energetic game from start to finish with both sides were looking to take control of the game.
Plym Valley moved the ball quickly around the pitch and the home side worked hard to close them down.
The visitors took an early lead with a powerfully struck goal. It was not long before the home side drew level with a goal from Armstrong, superbly struck from the top of the 'D.' White on the right linked well with Lamb who sped down the right, putting in crosses for McClumpha in the middle and Gawman on the left.
The home side built up their attacks with the ball being distributed from the middle to both sides of the pitch. They took the lead with a well taken penalty corner. The ball was slipped between Lamb and Armstrong who struck it hard into the net.
The opposition continued to play the ball around well and were fast on the break. A penalty corner was awarded to the opposition from which they levelled the score. They quickly followed it up with another goal from open play.
The second half continued at a fast pace with the home side put together some good flowing hockey. The opposition were determined and the home defence worked well to keep them out. Viggars had a good game in goal for Tavistock and made some great saves. Evans also put in some great tackles.
The home side kept pressing and eventually they got another goal. White had the ball in the 'D' who pushed it back to McClumpha who slotted it into the net. With the score level each team pushed even harder. The opposition were awarded a penalty corner just the final whistle blew. This had to be played. The home side defended it but in the process another penalty corner was given. The ball had to be put out of play or the 'D' for the game to end.
The home side put everything into defending it and got the ball out of play quickly. So the teams shared the points.
