DARTMOOR Rescue Group is organising a night walk on Dartmoor as a result of requests from many of those who took part in the ?12 Across and 2 Down? walk in February.
The ?Sunset Sunrise? walk takes place on Saturday, July 31 and starts at 9pm from Walkhampton Memorial Hall. The circular route ? which is just under 14 miles ? goes as far as Siward?s Cross before turning back to the hall via Princetown and King?s Tor.
Checkpoints along the route will be manned by personnel from the Plymouth section of the Dartmoor Rescue Group and a team will walk the route after the last walkers have left in order to ensure that no-one is left behind.
The date has been selected to be as near the full moon as possible and if the weather is kind participants should see the sunset and the moon rise.
Participants can take part as individual or as part of a group. The entry fee is £5.50, to include light refreshments and a special commemorative cloth badge will be available at £2.
Entry forms are available from Sue Britten, 88 Charfield Drive, Eggbuckland, Plymouth, PL6 5PS with an SAE, or by e-mail to sue.brit@btopenworld. com Further details can also be obtained from the Dartmoor Rescue webpage www.
