A LONG-running disagreement between Bridestowe Parish Council and West Devon Borough Council over the collection of a rubbish bin from the village cemetery may be over.
The bin, containing dead flowers and material from old wreaths, is placed just inside the cemetery.
But the borough council's bin contractors said bins had to be placed outside properties on collection day.
The parish council pointed out that as nobody actually lived at the cemetery it would be difficult for the bin to be moved outside every Friday.
Time passed and letters between the two bodies were exchanged but now the end may be in sight.
The parish council last week heard that the borough had now instructed the contractors to enter the cemetery and collect the bin.
But parish council chairman John Leonard expressed doubts as to whether this was being done and asked for enquiries to be made.
'By the time this is finally resolved we'll all be in the cemetery anyway,' he said.
