AS a Tavistock town councillor I tried for years, with a few other councillors, to get dog poo bins located at strategic points on the moor in order to minimise the disgusting trait of passing through a dog poo minefield on Whitchurch Down.

Last year we were successful but it seems that the people that the town council contracted to undertake the emptying of the bins and the supervision of this by town council officers is non-existent.

The bins are overflowing with dog poo surrounding them. It is about time that the town council got a grip of the situation and did not imagine that they could simply ignore the bin emptying and it will somehow, magically, look after itself.

This is a service we are paying for and the council tax payers deserve a better service.
